Jane Smiley will keynote at the upcoming Santa Barbara Writers Conference    6/7/14–6/12/14  It will be Ms. Smiley’s second keynote address. Ms. Smiley keynoted at SBWC after the release of A Thousand Acres,  Ms. Smiley’s sixth novel and eight published book. A Thousand Acres earned Jane Smiley the Pulitzer Prize for fiction. I remember vividly sitting in the audience, a relative newcomer to the writing life, struck by two things: she was tall and quite funny.
