Eudora Welty, Award Winning Writer, 1909-2001, Discussing the Roots of Her Storytelling

Eudora Welty, Pulitzer Prize / Fiction winner became known to me through my association with the Santa Barbara Writers Conference, specifically founder Barnaby Conrad who often talked about her keynote at SBWC’s 1976 session. What I’ve learned over these many years of being a student in this craft is that stories rooted in our inner selves are the ones that resonate. How often Mr. C. talked about the ‘universality’ of storytelling. Regardless of genre, those that resonate with readers are the stories we read. Ms. Welty says the same here in this interview snippet.

The 2023 Santa Barbara Writers Conference gathers for five days in June to celebrate 50 years of supporting writers and the creative process. Click here for details re: our June 19th-23rd  session.
