Sharon McHarry, playwright

Many moons ago, maybe 2005? Sharon hung out in my SBWC workshop and read many passages from her work-in-progress. Not sure if it was in memoir or fiction form back then -that I can’t remember-what I do remember, even after all these years, is that her prose read poetic in this compelling story that explores the impact mental illness has on kids. A page turner even back then. I remember her story well and when I do, I’m not much surprised when these drafts-in-progress make to publishing’s light of day. CRAZY MAMA premiers at the Rubicon Theater in Ojai, Ca in March 2025. Sharon received a Social Impact Theatre Grant from The Sheri and Les Biller Family Foundation. The funds will go toward the play’s production at the Rubicon Theatre in Ventura. Tickets are on sale now.

John Trotti

I initially met John in my real time workshop where he read several passages from his novel- in-progress that I believe he was beginning to transition from its earlier memoir form. Covid hit and I saw John again, This time in my ZOOM workshop where he remained for the entire time we met, almost 3 years. His novel, Phantoms of Viet Nam, will soon be published about one fighter pilot’s years spent in Vietnam both in the air and in a prisoner-of-war camp. Author interviews: AUTHORS and Book Promo, 21st Century Style is my 3rd author related interview show. I launched this one in early 2023. I share all interviews on my FB author page, X, Medium and IG but I believe they get more views on my Substack page, perhaps because every other subscriber there identities as ‘writer.’ TikTok is FAB for promoting too via #booktok, but uploading 20+ minute interviews on this platform tries my computer’s capabilities. As well? Folks there dig short not long videos.

About my ZOOM Read & Critique workshops: I launched this online workshop to save my sanity when Covid locked us down. We ran for almost 3 years and in that time, we heard many draft novels and memoirs, from page one to The End. Two of my writers are publishing their manuscripts in 2025.
