‘SweetSpot: Now and Then‘ Promotion Aided by Menopause Mentors
The doors to opportunity begin to close for women in midlife. We’ve always known that and likely many women have accepted this as a fait accompli. When I wrote the first draft of this novel I titled it ‘SweetSpot’ -a name relavent to this story I penned in the early 2000’s – I then began running a magazine and writing another novel ‘Danny Ends Up Dead,’ still in first draft stage.
In between writing the first draft of ‘SweetSpot’ and unearthing it from my hard drive years later, much had happened in this writer’s life. So, informed by real life, I added the NOW portion to this novel I consider coming of age even though my protagonist took ‘a bit’ more time coming into her own.
SweetSpot: Now and Then about one woman’s entrance into that time of life when she was expected to disappear but instead? Darlene Robinson didn’t. Was it easy to push back against the culture? At that time, she had no notion of pushing back against any such thing. Her only worry was for her mental health.
Publishing date, March 21, 2025.
As part of my promotion, I’ve been collecting videos from films that through dialogue scene snippets reflect the lives of women in midlife and beyond. I’ve also been collecting videos from social media creators pushing back against this invisibility mandate women have been captive of since history began recording socio-cultural influences on human beings.
Here’s a video about the evolution of one a young woman’s menses that begins with her ‘first bleed.’
Stay tuned for more as we approach the debut of this novel that captures one year in the life of Darlene Robinson, her story a mix of fantasy and fact.
