Midlife Switch to the Writing Life? This Show’s For You

Exploring Midlife Career Transitions Through Storytelling

Are you someone who started out in one profession but found yourself drawn to writing later in life? If so, this show is dedicated to sharing your journey and the experiences of others like you. Over the past two decades, I’ve hosted various video-formatted shows on platforms such as Blog Talk Radio, Google TV, and now YouTube. My latest podcast focuses on writers and authors who have made a significant career shift during midlife, highlighting the unique stories and perspectives that come with such a transition.

This podcast was inspired by my search for platforms to pitch my novel, SweetSpot: Now and Then. Through conversations with writers who have navigated midlife changes, I realized just how relatable these stories can be. The show aims to provide insight into the challenges and triumphs of reinventing oneself as a writer, and to celebrate the courage it takes to pursue a new passion during a pivotal stage in life.

Midlife is a big deal these days, talked about by so many content creators, writers and authors. Methinks it’s always been a big deal, just not a ‘talked about’ big deal. Back when I was about to enter my own midlife, I switched gears and became a writer.   Meeting writers at this juncture may make for some interesting stories to share and that’s the aim of Authors and Content Creators: Talking to Marla Miller

In my premiere podcast, that is undergoing a title change, I talk to   Dr Julie Dillemuth, an award winning author of children’s books, poet and screenwriter who segued to writing from her career in education. Of course, I had to know how she interfaced her PhD in Geography with writing stories for our littlest readers.

In this interview, she discusses that melding along with learning the ‘business end’ of this writing life, which took longer than she anticipated.

Julie’s website offers lots of information about her, including her publisher and her latest series, Camille and the Fall Festival.

PS.

About this evolution, I added content creators to the list of midlife authors I hope to talk to on my new ZOOM show. Here’s the new signage.
