Fall, 2021

Dear Subscribers,

I launched WritersMama ZOOM Read & Critique Workshop on April 3rd, 2020. Sixteen months later, this group still meets twice/week. Three of our writers are reading novel #2 while pitching their first novels, read/critiqued by us, to agents and small publishers. I have attended these kinds of groups for years and must say, the ZOOM version makes life easier. Who knew?  While true we don’t have the opportunity to socialize that realtime writing groups offer, the benefits of  remaining at your desk while you work on your novel or memoir-in-progress are many: no time wasted traveling, no traffic jams and no traveling expenses.  While my ZOOM group started out as an experiment, this virtual working platform has proven itself, enough for me to add another ZOOM writersmama group, this one aimed at writers ‘newer’ to  storytelling and platform building.

WritersMama Is It a Book? Workshop is a version of one I’ve facilitated for years at realtime conferences. This workshop is open to writers with first drafts completed or near completion, (fiction/nonfiction-memoir). Remember, first drafts are works-in-progress, a.k.a  ‘shitty first drafts.’

Is It A Book Yet? Details:

  • Group size limit,  8 writers.
  • 1/2 of the workshop (approximately) devoted to read/critique.
  • The remaining half devoted to discussion/tutorial, platform building.
  • Workshop will be held once/week
  • Writers interested should contact me at marketingthemuse@gmail.com for more details that will include workshop fee and time structure.
  • To be considered, please include one paragraph offering an overview of your project and your experience in writing/publishing. Also include the first 5  pages of your work-in=progress cut/pasted into your email.
  • If accepted, writers are expected to make a three month commitment to attend every session, approximately 12 sessions. (Based on the group’s needs, we may decide to keep going.)
  • Workshop schedule will be adjusted to accommodate the holiday season.

I plan to launch Writersmama Is It A Book Yet? Workshop soon after the Southern California Writers Conference concludes in a few weeks. Speaking of which, please continue reading.
