Episode #4  Literary Salon: Learning Prose from Pros Interviews Brett Battles

I so enjoyed time spent with Brett Battles, author of 23 novels plus many other published works. He defines ‘hard working author’ – on deadline all the time to craft and publish novels his readers expect from him. He’s a 2008 Barry Award winning thriller author who’s penned several series (Jonathan Quinn Series, the 1st) which ranks this thriller genre author as a master of his craft.

Battles began traditionally published in 2007 and segued to indie when the shrinking of the traditional publishing started soon after his career kicked in. Lousy timing, but when one door closes and you have a backlist and following like Brett Battles did, you head toward indie where many of his author friends already were. He liked what he saw.  He went ‘hybrid’ a few years ago and hasn’t look back. Today he runs his business and writes full-time. He also does a great job marketing. Battles is a successful author with lots to say about today’s publishing world.  Like I said, I enjoyed our conversation and plan to have Brett Battles back on Literary Salon: Learning Prose from Pros when the novel he read an excerpt from,  Rewinder, debuts in August.
