Since 1972, the Santa Barbara Writers Conference,  SBWC , has hosted iconic authors and author hopefuls. When I attended my first in 1989, I learned that legendary writers like Ray Bradbury & Charles M. Schulz never missed a session. Other iconic writers that include William Styron, Eudora Welty, James Michener, Sue Grafton, Clive Cussler, Fannie Flagg, Elmore Leonard, Tom McGuane, Dorothy Allison  & T.C. Boyle have keynoted at SBWC and usually hang around just because the vibe there is so good. I’ll never forget the morning I attended Barny Conrad’s workshop. I was scheduled to read. Just as I was about to read from my novel-in-progess, I noticed Barny nodding to someone. I looked behind me and saw a thin man wearing wire rimmed glasses leaning against the wall in the back of the room. I proceeded to read 3 pages and when I was done and ready for critiquing,  Barny asked ‘Dutch’ if he had any comment. ‘Dutch’ was Elmore Leonard and yes, he did have a comment. SBWC is that kind of conference. Join us in June, hang out with fabulous writers  and learn lots.

MarketingtheMuse Workshops includes a read/critique segment & these guests- indie pioneers – & confirmed at this posting.
