Dear ________:

I’m seeking representation for my time travel romance, On the Border of Time.

As archivist for the Hixson Mills Historical Society, Julia Pickett is entrusted with the care and preservation of the whispered words of the past found within the pages of its diaries and journals. There is nothing ghostly in Julia’s story, and she is as puzzled as the rest of us when one summer morning she steps across a threshold in the courthouse’s clock tower and into Hixson Mills, Missouri, circa 1863.

Soon she is torn between two centuries–and two men. One offers her a good life in the safe environs of her 21st century. But a certain charismatic young outlaw beckons her from across the borders of time and, despite the terrors of a nation at war with itself, Julia chooses the latter.

Nineteenth century Robin Hood, Zeb Bonard, wants nothing so much as for the war to leave him alone–that and to break his brother Luke out of jail, a task for which Julia is uniquely qualified. But will her inside knowledge of their history be enough to alter the date she has seen chiseled on a gravestone in 2009?

On the Border of Time is a harrowing ride through the realities of life along the volatile Missouri-Kansas border at the apex of the Civil War. It contrasts Julia’s tame 21st century life, where she feels more a spectator than a player, with Zeb’s chaotic world in which the lines between friend and foe are hopelessly blurred. Julia learns the hard way that there are “good guys” and “bad guys” on both sides of the conflict. Their story builds to a climax which finds Julia joining with the Bonard brothers to attempt the impossible: the rescue of seventeen Confederate women held in a Union prison–a building that, in Julia’s history, collapsed, costing many lives.

Complete at 120,000 words, On the Border of Time is reminiscent of Outlander, minus the moors of Scotland, with a touch of Cat Ballou. A sequel has also been completed. Attached for your perusal are a Synopsis and the first 50 pages.

Sincerely,
